What Baptism are you baptised with…..?!

So I had this thought this morning …I remember in my life, times when I would always be messing up or sinning as they say in church, and be repenting before God. ”Oh I am sorry Father, sooooo sooorry and do the very same thing in a couple days. Man I mean what is up with that, I used to question what was the point of living the life if all I do is screw things up? I actually stopped being in strong relationship with God because of that, let us just say I was ( and in some ways still am a ) bit of a perfectionist, so messing up what I though was the standard according to my religious christian upbringing, was a terrible thing for a young man. Someone told me though, ” You do not get holy to get close to God, you get close to God to get holy?” Hmmmm. That makes a whole lot of sense! I cannot no matter how hard I try be good, I will fail!. There is NO good in this flesh of mine ( Or yours for that matter ) NONE! We need God, his son Yeshua and the spirit of Yahweh to help us live the full life…John 3:16. We need the spirit of God for he came to give us power and the ability to do his work. The book of Acts talks about this alot. We need his presence, his grace, his spirit of wisdom, it is essential for us.When the spirit was hovering of Adam, it gave him life (Gen 2:7). The Spirit gives life and liberty check, 2 Cor 3:17 out for yourself. So let us pick up the story in Acts 19″1-6,where Paul ask the disciples, what baptism have you received? They replied the baptism of John the baptist, the baptism of repentance! All they knew was repentance of sins. Sometimes all we know is the repentance of sins…Yeshua came to clean off all our sin, and guilt and make us right, and that is all we focus on! However there is more! In 1 John 2:12-14, it talks about the fact that the children only know of repentance, the young men know of overcoming and the Fathers know him intimately. We need to stop being children and start being young men, moving on to Fathers and Mothers. It is a journey! Once I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought as a child…I did childish things  and lived in repentance of sins only, John’s baptism. Now I need or we need, to be filled with the baptism of the spirit and, become young men 0r women and then continue to become Fathers and Mothers in our spiritual relationship with God and each other. Tell me what you think…..
