Become who you were born to be….

I was looking at movie trailers, and came across this one from my favorite movie trilogy in the world, Lord of the Rings. This trailer is 6 mins and 50 seconds long, but the part that grips me the most is @ 5 mins 12 seconds…when Lord Elrond says to Aragorn (a king in hiding because of the past)..”Become who you were born to be….”

A friend recently said the same thing to me, but I think it is probadly the thing God keeps gently nudging ALL of us into…Walking out in the destiny and purpose he has for us.

Aragorn was the son of a King, but was in hiding, fearing that he would make the same mistakes that his ancestors made. His past haunted him. If you read the last post I wrote, you would understand my heart for dealing with the past. My how it is a struggle to let go and walk out in the new. To forgive people who have hurt us and even forgive ourselves for mistakes we have made, we do not have to make the same mistakes of the past.

In this story however Arogorn does walk out in his destiny and fulfill the purpose for which he was created. It is interesting to note that Elrond is sort of a father/mentor to Aragorn, so when Elrond tells him walk out in his destiny it is really symbolic. Fathers have a big part to play in a persons Identity and Destiny’s being formed and fashioned. How many fathers or mentors are out there, concerned for the development of those around them, interested in passing on the baton to the next Kings/ Queens of our generation. I know of two such person to me, and that is of Rowland Whitehead, and also Terry Bone from Grimsby, Ontario. There are others as well, who though the course of time have had tremendous influence on me, for the best. Who are the mentors and father figures in your life?! I am really big on Identity and Destiny, on people finding out who they are in God and as they discover who they are, their destiny flows out of that. Fear is a lie, from the enemy keeping us from the truth of who we are! The enemy tells us we are nothing special, a waste of time, talent-less, all lies and tricks he uses to confuse us and keep us from true life. You know the lies he tells you.! He wants nothing good for us..NOTHING!!!!

So RISE OH MAN OH DAUGHTER of YEHWAH and BECOME WHO YOU WERE BORN TO BE…!!!
